Prior to the pandemic, the tourism and hospitality industry was is Kentucky’s third largest industry, employing over 60,500 workers in Louisville alone.

Prior to the pandemic, the Bourbon city had been experiencing tremendous growth in tourism infrastructure. Tourism was the third largest industry in Louisville supporting 60,500 local tourism-related jobs. These jobs helped host a record 19 million visitors in 2019*. This peak of visitation generated an estimated economic impact of $3.5 billion While hospitality and tourism in Louisville and throughout the country has been hit hard, the industry is poised to make a strong come back and Louisville’s assets help set it apart from the competition. These include a newly expanded downtown Kentucky International Convention Center, 1.2 million square feet of contiguous meeting space at the Kentucky Exposition Center, over 21,000 hotel rooms and growing, and nearly a dozen Urban Bourbon experiences driving the city’s authentic culture with other iconic attractions and a strong local restaurants culture.
