Overview
Louisville Tourism is charged with the task of marketing Louisville as a premier destination for conventions, trade shows, corporate meetings, large events, and leisure travel. Louisville Tourism offers enthusiastic, creative and highly-motivated college students the opportunity to be part of an exciting internship program designed to train the next generation of destination management professionals with the skills necessary to become an exceptional leader in Louisville’s tourism industry.

Responsibilities
Depending on the concentration of the department the intern is assigned to, Louisville Tourism interns can have the opportunity to enhance or develop strong skills in the following areas:

  • Marketing & Sales
  • Event Management
  • Hospitality & Tourism
  • Writing & Communications
  • Graphic Design
  • Media
  • Finance & Administration

Requirements

Applicants must be reliable, resourceful individuals with an enthusiastic interest in promoting Louisville as a destination, as well as meet the following requirements to be eligible:

  • Enrolled full-time in a college or university (junior level or higher is preferred)
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Systems & savvy in social media practices
  • Ability to work in a multi-task environment
  • Maintain professional appearance and behavior
  • Valid driver’s license (some driving may be required)
  • Valid ID and proof of citizenship

Compensation & Duration

Interns receive an hourly rate of pay. The duration varies based on the needs each department. Interns are considered part-time, eligible to work up to 23 hours per week within the LCVB office hours. Participation in activities/events beyond normal office hours may be required. In addition, interns receive a reimbursement for any mileage incurred. College credit is also available (when applicable).
