Hometown Tourist Celebration
In conjunction with National Tourism Week, the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau is promoting special discounts at 32 area attractions, 17 restaurants and nine hotels for all Kentucky and Indiana residents during the city’s Hometown Tourist Celebration.
Through May 31, many arts and cultural attractions from the Kentucky Derby Museum to the Belle of Louisville and numerous museums on Main Street’s “Museum Row” are offering 2-for-1 admission for locals. New this year are dining discounts being offered in conjunction with Louisville Downtown Management District’s Fleur De Licious restaurant week.
Since 2002, the city has hosted Hometown Tourist events to encourage residents to visit local attractions just as if they were tourists in another city. Discounts are available by simply showing a Kentucky or Indiana ID.
In addition to the special offers, Hometown Tourist Celebration includes several new events:
- Register to win two “Ultimate Tickets to Ride” to Abbey Road on the River and prizes including t-shirts, koozies, water bottles, silly bands, Frisbees and sunglasses as well as pick-up information about upcoming Hometown Tourist Celebration events and 2-for-1 discount offers at the Louisville Bats Baseball Game Tailgate Party Friday, May 13, 5PM-7PM. Look for Catfish Louie, Bravo the Star, the Glacier Run Bear family mascots, Churchill Charlie and the Mega Cavern tour jeep at the corner of Witherspoon and Preston, just outside the stadium.
- May 13-21 is Louisville Downtown Management District’s Fleur De Licious restaurant week during which a $30 prix fixe three-course dinner menu is offered at 17 white table cloth restaurants in downtown.
