Free ‘LouGrass’ Series Showcases Kentucky’s Authentic Genre

Tune in seasonally to catch live, weekly Bluegrass performances

Louisville, KY (April 1, 2024) – Just like Bourbon, bluegrass music was born in Kentucky - deriving from the hills of Appalachia. To celebrate Kentucky’s ties to Bluegrass music, Louisville’s visitors and local community can catch ‘LouGrass’ seasonally from April through October, where at least two venues each weekend will feature live, free bluegrass and bluegrass adjacent music.

Louisville has been synonymous with the Bluegrass genre for decades, previously hosting the Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass Trade Show and Fan Fest and countless Bluegrass festivals. Over time, the genre has introduced a myriad of traditional sounds, including roots, Americana, Afro-Lachen, alt-country, blues, and jazz – truly creating its own genre.

A myriad of Louisville’s venues, bars, hotels, restaurants and special events will host the weekly performances, giving guests an opportunity to sample a variety of the city’s hospitality settings.

“The launch of LouGrass will complement the city’s authentic visitor experience, showcasing the evolution of Bluegrass while simultaneously supporting our vibrant hospitality community,” said Cleo Battle, Louisville Tourism President & CEO. “Considering Bluegrass and Bourbon go hand-in-hand, we fully expect guests to spend their days enjoying the Urban Bourbon Trail®, area distilleries and tasting rooms – with LouGrass fulfilling their evening entertainment.”
