Overview

For the first time since 1976, when the Kentucky Colonels basketball team ceased operations, Louisville is poised to field a top-tier professional sports franchise in 2021 when launching a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team.

Racing Louisville FC will be run by Soccer Holdings, LLC, the same organization behind Louisville City FC, the two-time USL Championship-winning men's side. Both Racing and LouCity will play at Lynn Family Stadium and train at a nearby 30,000 square foot facility where ground has been broken.

Introduction of the NWSL to Louisville, which has experienced immense success on the pitch already with two-time USL Championship winner Louisville City FC, will bring to Lynn Family Stadium household names prominent in winning the United States the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
