In this episode Stacey and Jessica make Hoppin' John and a Gold Rush
- ½ lb. bacon
- 1 c. rice
- 1 c. black eyed peas (canned, frozen or fresh & soaked)
- ½ c. chopped onion
- 2 tbs. butter
- 1 tbs. bourbon
- Salt & pepper
Cook rice and mic in butter. Fry bacon and remove from grease. Cook onions in the hot bacon grease until softened and browned. Add black eyed peas, bourbon and buttered rice. Season with salt and pepper and simmer on low for 5 minutes. Crumble the bacon and add it back into the pan. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
- 2 oz. bourbon
- ¾ oz. honey simple syrup
- ¾ oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake thoroughly. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a lemon peel.
