Three downtown hotels also made top meeting hotels list

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 24, 2023) – Louisville has been named one of the Top Meeting Destinations in North America by industry-leading meetings, events, and hospitality technology provider, Cvent.

Additionally, three downtown hotels were also named top meeting hotels by one of the world’s largest venue-sourcing platform. The hotels making the list are Marriott Louisville Downtown, Omni Hotel Louisville and The Galt House Hotel.

Louisville has more than 150 hotels and over 20,000 rooms in the metro area, from boutique to budget-friendly. Currently, Downtown Louisville accommodations offer 6,000+ rooms with a varied blend of contemporary and classic within walking distance of the Kentucky International Convention Center and some of the city’s finest attractions including Museum Row, Fourth Street Live! and Whiskey Row.

Recently Travel + Leisure noted that according to Airbnb, the No. 1 trending destination in the U.S. based on 2023 first-quarter searches is none other than Louisville, Kentucky.

Earlier in the year, Louisville won recognition as one of the ‘52 Places to Travel in 2023’ on a worldwide list curated by the powerhouse newspaper and mass media company, The New York Times. Bourbon City was also one of the 10 cities on Travel + Leisure’s 2023 list of ‘Best Food Cities in the U.S.’ Louisville was awarded a spot on the coveted list for the city’s independent restaurant scene and Urban Bourbon Trail® (UBT) offerings.

The Cvent Top Meeting Destinations lists evaluate and recognize cities and hotels that are successfully attracting meetings and events to their locales. Rankings are determined based on sourcing activity through the Cvent Supplier Network, one of the world’s largest venue-sourcing platforms.

Since 1968, Louisville Tourism’s primary goal has been to enhance the area’s economy through tourism development - to promote and sell Louisville as a world-class destination. Prior to the pandemic, Tourism was the third largest industry in Louisville hosting 19 million visitors in 2019. This peak of visitation had been generating an estimated economic impact of $3.4 billion which supported over 57,000 local tourism-related jobs.

Cvent’s destination methodology: The agency evaluated 12,500+ cities worldwide listed on the Cvent Supplier Network. Activity was tracked between January 2022 and December 2022. Rankings were determined by a set of qualifying criteria, including: the number of total room nights booked through the Cvent Supplier Network; the number of unique electronic request-for-proposals (RFPs) sent through the marketplace to venues within the city; the total value of the RFPs submitted; and the actual awarded value for meetings booked.

To rank the hotels, Cvent evaluated hotel properties that generated business through the Cvent Supplier Network between January 2022 and December 2022. The properties were ranked according to various criteria, including total requests for proposals (RFPs), awarded RFPs, total room nights, awarded room nights, major metropolitan area market share, conversion rate, and response rate. The criteria are designed to provide the most accurate reflection of the top meeting hotels in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific regions.
