The Visitor Experience Programming Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the Mobile Visitor Center deployment calendar and the Visitor Experience Opportunity Menu. Manager executes strategic initiatives focused on driving traffic and engagement with and to the Mobile Visitor Center, Airport Welcome Center and Downtown Visitor Center. The Manager will work in collaboration with all Louisville Tourism Departments including Strategic Alliances, Marketing, Sales, and Destination Services teams. Responsibilities include overseeing the Mobile Visitor Center (MVC), planning and assisting with activations at events, fairs, festivals, and trade shows; managing and executing activations and events to bring the Visitor Experience Opportunity Menu to life at the Airport Welcome Center, Mobile Visitor Center and Downtown Visitor Center.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee the Mobile Visitor Center Deployment calendar:

  • Manage day-to-day operations and schedule of the Mobile Visitor Center
  • Plan and assist with activations at events, fairs, festivals and trade shows
  • Work collaboratively across departments to make sure that the Mobile
  • Visitor Center is a usable asset to all departments at Louisville Tourism
  • Assist in training other LT employees on the logistics of MVC operations
  • Manage the inventory and purchasing of collateral, merchandise, office and activation supplies for the MVC
  • Operate, oversee and train others to use the POS system onboard the
  • Mobile for offsite sales in collaboration with the Visitor Services Coordinator
  • Proactively seek out new ideas for LT Visitor Experience activation opportunities and potential partnerships internally & externally
  • Maintain trade knowledge by attending educational conferences, seminars and workshops; stays up to date on current visitor trends
  • Travel, attend and represent Louisville Tourism onboard the MVC and otherwise at local, state and regional events
  • Oversee part time staff members who may be working at an offsite event onboard the MVC
  • Work with Visitor Experience Director and Airport Welcome Center
  • Manager to schedule appropriate staffing of Mobile Visitor Center deployments
  • Manage part time Visitor Experience employees who are deployed at special events and activations with the Mobile Visitor Center
  • Coordinate and execute activations and events across Louisville Tourism’s brick-and-mortar Visitor Experiences:

  • Manage LT Visitor Experience Opportunity Menu calendar to ensure robust schedule of activations across Airport Welcome Center, Mobile
  • Visitor Center and Downtown Visitor Center
  • Work across departments and in collaboration with the Tourism
  • Development, Strategic Alliances, Marketing, Sales, and Destination
  • Services teams to maximize opportunities to leverage Visitor Experiences
  • Reach out to attraction, distillery and restaurant partners to build awareness and participation in Visitor Experience Opportunity Menu
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with Louisville Tourism partners
  • Attend Tourism conferences, events and functions as needed including the KTIA conferences and bi-monthly Attraction Network meetings

Qualifications:

  • Event planning experience preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in tourism/hospitality preferred
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Louisville area and attractions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and point-of-sale systems
  • Budget development and management experience
  • Experience in consumer/retail data analysis
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • People-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic, and positive
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and take initiative
  • Supervisory skills
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and remain calm under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and visitor-experience focused
  • Willingness to drive a 24’ long box truck (MVC)

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods at events
  • Ability to lift boxes and climb ladders as well as other duties necessary to stock the Mobile Visitor Center and/or set up remote activations

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work weekends, nights, and additional hours as needed
  • Regional and national travel as needed
  • Use of personal vehicle for work-related travel
