POSITION SUMMARY:
To promote and solicit meetings and events that generate room nights 300 on peak or below in various market segments as assigned. Responsible for achieving individual sales goals annually. The current booking goal projection is 20,000 room nights per year. Booking goals are established on an annual basis.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Solicit and generate new and repeat leads through telemarketing, mailings, emails, referrals, trade shows, sales calls, web research, Mint+ database and other prospecting tools.
- Make formal written and oral presentations to clients.
- Maintain ongoing knowledge of hotels, convention facilities, and partners to ensure a better understanding of their capabilities and to develop team spirit within the city and county.
- Partner with local community contacts in a cooperative effort to generate potential business for the city.
- Function as an official Louisville Tourism representative and liaison between the hotels, facilities, and potential clients.
- Keep and maintain records of all sales activity in Simpleview CRM.
- Keep financial records of all expenditures for sales calls, travel, client/partner entertainment, or promotions as the financial guidelines outline.
- Responsible for room nights booked annually and other goals established by the VP of Convention Development and Director of Meetings Team Sales.
- Varying work schedule to support the needs of clients, partners, and Louisville Tourism.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP of Convention Development and Director of Sales.
- Coordinate, attend, and direct special events such as sales missions, site visits, FAM tours, trade shows, etc.
- Travel will be required with this position.
- Always represent Louisville Tourism in a professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 to 5 years of industry experience.
- Hotel product and staff knowledge, previous client contact beneficial.
- Understanding of sales methods, procedures, and techniques is also required.
- Computer proficiency with MS Windows/Office, Presentation Software, and Sales Database Management.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to interface well with Louisville Tourism staff, hotels, clients, and facilities.
- Ability to calculate, project, and use numbers for planning, reporting, presentations, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $61,000.00 per year
