Geography, History & Wildlife at the Falls

The Falls of the Ohio is more than a geological wonder. It is a place that served as a focal point in history. George Rogers Clark founded Louisville and Clarksville, capturing the Northwest Territory from the British. It’s where Meriwether Lewis met William Clark to start the famous expedition. It was the first lock and dam on the Ohio River, one of the first bridges to span the river. It is people and engineering marvels. Volunteer training class by Paul Olliges, amateur Falls historian and 30+-year volunteer, is free with Interpretive Center admission.
