Louisville Lands Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Show in 2021

8,000 attendees to convene for large indoor/outdoor living show

Louisville, KY (October 21, 2020) – In a convention industry win for Louisville, the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA) announced a show move to Louisville after postponing HPBExpo 2021 due to the ongoing uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally scheduled for early March in Nashville, Tennessee, HPBExpo 2021 will now be held June 23-26 at the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) in Louisville. The show will bring an estimated 8,000 attendees representing 12,320 total room nights producing over $6 million in estimated economic impact.

"As we rise to the challenges 2020 has brought to the convention industry, we are extremely excited to welcome HPBExpo to the Kentucky Exposition Center in June," said Doug Bennett, Senior Vice President of Convention Development for Louisville Tourism. "Louisville's convention package continues to offer a high value for planners, including the extra attention to attendee safety at the Kentucky Expo Center and Kentucky International Convention Center through their recent GBAC STAR accreditation, the gold standard in facility cleaning."

HPBA worked closely with Nashville to try to identify a later date for the event, but the city did not have availability to accommodate the new timing. HPBA recently added Louisville as an Expo destination and was planning its inaugural visit in 2023.

“The health and safety of our attendees, exhibitors and staff have always been our number one priority,” stated Kelly VanDermark, HPBA’s Vice President of Expositions and Events. “Based on the current situation, the leadership of HPBA and the Expo Committee have decided it is in the best interest of all parties to reschedule the event for June.

VanDermark added, “In the meantime, we feel that Louisville will be a great alternative and look forward to reconnecting with the industry to provide access to the latest trends, technology, and training in indoor-outdoor living.”

HPBExpo is North America's largest indoor/outdoor living show with exhibitors who display and demonstrate the latest products in hearth, barbecue, indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as pool & spa. The show is open to trade only and attracts specialty retailers, installing distributors, HVAC contractors, and LP and hardware dealers. The HPBExpo education program offers seminars focused on business development, sales and marketing, technical training and safety/liability issues.
