Churchill Downs
Churchill Downs, located on Central Avenue in south Louisville, Kentucky, United States, is a Thoroughbred racetrack most famous for hosting the Kentucky Derby annually. It officially opened in 1875, and held the first Kentucky Derby and the first Kentucky Oaks in the same year. Churchill Downs has also hosted the renowned Breeders' Cup on nine occasions, most recently in 2018. Churchill Downs Incorporated owns and operates the racetrack. The capacity of Churchill Downs is 120,000. Live Thoroughbred horse racing in the spring/summer & fall, including Saturday night races under the lights. Private event space available year-round for meetings and special events. Group packages offered for "Day at the Races" during Spring, Summer and Fall meets. Our historic facility is the perfect place to host your event and provide your guests with an experience they are sure to remember.
