Welcome to your go‑to guide for indoor, family fun in Louisville — it’s the perfect roadmap to making memories no matter the season. Whether you’re after hands‑on science exhibits, artsy installations, underground thrills, or interactive museums, Louisville has a little something for everyone. So, grab your coat (or don’t), gather the crew, and get ready to discover some of Louisville’s best spots to stay warm, curious, and entertained.

Great for teens

Art comes to life before your eyes with glassblowing at Flame Run. Try the design-your-own experience, where trained artists help you create your own one-of-a-kind art piece. Become part of the art at 21C Museum Hotel’s falling letter art installation near the elevators. Just hold your arms out, and see where the letters land. Before leaving, take a selfie with one of the red penguins that “roam around” the lobby.

Check out Activate Games, where high-tech games test your physical and code-breaking skills (it’s like being a part of the movie “Tron”). Fulfill the need for speed up to 30 mph with indoor go-karts at Full Throttle Adrenaline Park. Wall-to-wall trampolines await at Altitude Trampoline Park, as well as basketball, dodgeball, a foam pit, and more. Check out Dave & Buster’s or Main Event for additional indoor fun and arcade games. Malibu Jack's offers even more activities with go karts, laser tag, mini golf, an arcade, bumper cars, and a play area.

A former limestone quarry beneath parts of Louisville has found a new life as the world’s only underground adventure park. The Louisville Mega Cavern is home to a zipline course, tram tour, and ropes course. Don't miss their seasonal Lights Under Louisville event for a laser light show and over 6.5 million holiday lights.

The younger crowd

The Speed Art Museum is free on Sundays and is the oldest and largest art museum in Kentucky. It’s home to classical and modern art, plus rotating exhibits. For the budding artist, stop by Art Sparks — an interactive, hands-on art gallery.

As the largest hands-on science center in the state, the Kentucky Science Center encourages all visitors to engage in science throughout each floor. Plus, its home to a four-story movie theater.

Hidden gems

A few hidden gem attractions worth a visit include the Little Loomhouse, which has been welcoming guests since the 1880s, like Frank Lloyd Wright and Eleanor Roosevelt. It’s also where the “Happy Birthday to You” song was composed and first performed by the Hill Sisters.

Discover the charm of Portland, Louisville’s riverside community, at the Portland Museum and don’t miss taking a tour of the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, a stunning 1895 Richardsonian mansion in Old Louisville.

Fun for the whole fam

Tour the working baseball bat factory and snap a photo in front of the 120-foot-tall bat replica at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory — plus, leave with a miniature version of the world-famous bat. Explore Kentucky’s unique history, from early frontier life to modern culture in the “Cool Kentucky” exhibit at the Frazier History Museum. Learn about “The Greatest” in his hometown at the Muhammad Ali Center. The six-story museum features interactive exhibits, a documentary about his life, memorabilia, and more.

The Kentucky Derby Museum offers guided tours of Churchill Downs. The Roots 101 African American Museum explores the African American journey from Africa through slavery, civil rights, cultural contributions, and contemporary stories with artifacts, art, and storytelling that aim to educate and heal.
