Louisville Tourism COVID-19 Update for Groups

As the industry continues to monitor this situation, we would like to provide an update with resources so that you can be best equipped to address stakeholders while preparing for your upcoming convention, meeting or event in Louisville. We encourage everyone to seek information through credible resources, including at the national level with the CDC; internationally through the World Health Organization; and at the state and local level as noted and linked below.

As predicted, the virus has spread through most U.S. states. Like others, Kentucky has confirmed cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Both state and local officials have been preparing for this scenario and have been extremely responsive and detailed in their efforts. Collaboration between Louisville Tourism, the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH), Louisville Metro Government and all local leaders and organizations remains a top priority.

If your group is meeting at the Kentucky Exposition Center or the Kentucky International Convention Center, please know that both facilities are following the guidance provided by the CDC and WHO. For additional information and the latest updates, click on the links above. Precautionary measures that have already been implemented include:

Regimented cleaning procedures that utilize products capable of combating the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and others like it
Additional hand sanitization areas placed throughout each venue in high-traffic areas
Posting of signage provided by the CDC with guidelines and health recommendations throughout both venues

As your attendees and exhibitors plan air travel, we look forward to welcoming them to Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF). Although currently the CDC has not implemented enhanced screening of passengers at SDF, passengers are encouraged to increase personal hygiene and frequent hand washings. In addition, the following measures have been taken:

SDF continues to implement its 24-hour, 365-day cleaning protocol that complies with CDC guidelines.
Out of an abundance of caution, the airport is increasing its use of disinfectant and cleaning in high-touch areas such as handrails, elevator buttons, escalators and restroom doors.
Airline gate areas are cleaned routinely multiple times throughout the day.
Increased number of hand sanitizing stations in the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal for passengers’ convenience.
Coordinating with our airline and business partners to closely monitor any change in the status of our region’s health to ensure awareness of interagency protocols for handling infectious diseases.

We encourage you to use the resources provided, both on a local and national level. Seek out facts and best practices through our industry leaders, read the U.S. Travel Association’s joint statement, and please don’t hesitate to contact us or your venues and hotels directly with any additional questions or concerns.

We look forward to welcoming your group to Louisville
