The Dot Experience at the American Printing House for the Blind

Overview

Currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2026, this innovative museum will incorporate elements of an attraction, a factory tour, and a center of education. Extending from APH, The Dot Experience’s mission is to change perspectives about blindness and empower individual action toward a world that welcomes everyone. APH has operated in Louisville, KY since 1858 as the world’s largest nonprofit organization creating accessible learning experiences through educational, workplace, and independent living products and services for people who are blind or low vision.

Featuring people who are blind or have low vision, The Dot Experience will bring together historical and modern-day figures to share their lived experiences of success, struggle, and reality. Centered on human connection and innovation, The Dot Experience has been designed with an unprecedented set of applied inclusive design standards, allowing all visitors an immersive and interactive experience.
While our building is under construction, we share our knowledge with the community through educational series like Connect the Dots, community events, and formal school programming. If you want to book one of our programming events, don't hesitate to contact programs@thedotexperience.org.
