Destination Sense of Place Grant
Funds allocated for the DSP grant shall be used solely for the building and enhancement of tourism infrastructure through sense of place initiatives. Projects must occur within Louisville/Jefferson County, Kentucky.
- Tourism infrastructure can be identified as projects that make up a coordinated network of physical places, systems, and services that support a destination’s ability to attract visitors, authentically express the local identity and reinforce the visitor economy with collateral benefits that enhance the quality of life for residents.
- This is a matching grant. The grant funds will be allocated based on the recipient’s ability to match in dollars and/or through other services in support of the project for the funds to be awarded.
- The recipient must manage the project in its entirety to include but not limited to: choosing service providers, permitting, design, fabrication and installation, if applicable.
- Louisville Tourism will not take on any liabilities associated with the project or any costs/responsibilities for ongoing maintenance related to the project.
- The project must be completed within the calendar year the grant was awarded. The recipient will be responsible for completing the project. The CIC and Louisville Tourism will not assume any responsibility for ensuring project completion. If the project is not completed in the calendar year it was awarded, the funds will be returned to the CIC.
- An MOU will be drafted and signed by both parties.
Procedures for Expending Funds
- Once a grant has been approved, notification will be made. An MOU will be drafted and signed by both Louisville Tourism and the recipient noting the project and outlining the liabilities and ongoing maintenance responsibilities of the awarded party.
- Once the MOU is signed, a check for the grant amount will be cut and mailed to the recipient.
- Within 30 days after the project is complete, the grant recipient is required to complete the online CIC Grant Tracking report provided by Louisville Tourism about their grant. This report will include final costs, expected impact and images of the completed project. All completed reports will be included in future LT Commission Meeting packets and in future CIC Committee Meeting packets for review and information purposes.
