Waterfront space to go South of the Border

Louisville-based restaurateurs plan South of the Border concept in former Tumbleweed waterfront location

Falls City Hospitality Group (FCHG) is proud to announce the name of their newest Louisville restaurant, Doc’s Cantina. The South of the Border concept will be located in the former Tumbleweed location, 2301 River Road. FCHG entered a lease agreement for the location with the Waterfront Development Corp. earlier this year. The name is a play on Doc Crow’s, also owned and operated by FCHG. Construction is scheduled to begin by mid-summer on the 8,000 square foot site at the foot of the Big Four Bridge. Doc’s Cantina is scheduled to open by the end of 2015.

“We plan to take advantage of the unique location at Doc Cantina’s by opening up the part of the restaurant facing the river,” said FCHG managing partner Brett Davis. “Every diner will have a view of the water while enjoying the quality meals they’ve come to love about our other locations.”

Doc Crow’s and Doc’s Cantina executive chef Jonathan Schwarz is currently crafting the Tex-Mex inspired menu, while FCHS beverage director Jackie Zykan has created a whimsical and extensive bar menu featuring a variety of margaritas, house-made sangria with Louisville’s Copper & Kings brandy and several tequila, mescal and brandy options. All will be enjoyed in a prime riverfront setting.
