Louisville Sports Commission’s Greg Fante Named Sports ETA Executive of the Year
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 3, 2026)– Louisville Sports Commission President and CEO Greg Fante has been named Executive of the Year by Sports ETA, the leading trade association for the sports events and tourism industry. The honor was presented today during the Sports ETA Chief Executive Summit in Columbus, Ohio.
Since becoming President and CEO in 2023, Fante has continued building on nearly two decades of leadership within the organization, helping advance Louisville’s position as a premier destination for national and international sporting events. Under his leadership, the Commission has strengthened key partnerships, expanded its event portfolio and supported major milestones including Louisville’s selection as host of the 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics.
“I’m not in this for recognition,” said Fante. “What we do is for the community, our partners and the fans who make these events possible. No one receives recognition from their peers without a great team and great partners beside them. I’m humbled by this honor, and even more proud of what we continue to build together in Louisville.”
The Executive of the Year honor is awarded by Sports ETA to recognize a sports tourism leader who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, industry impact and sustained contributions to their organization and community.
“Greg is a strong example of leadership in our industry,” said John David, President and CEO of Sports ETA. “His ability to bring people together and focus on shared goals has helped advance the Louisville Sports Commission and the broader sports tourism field. We are proud to honor him as Sports ETA’s Executive of the Year.”
The Sports ETA Chief Executive Summit brings together senior leaders from across the sports tourism industry to share insights, strengthen collaboration and advance the future of sports event hosting and destination development.
