Louisville Continues to Evolve as America’s Most Walkable Whiskey Destination
New Bourbon City Companion, refreshed Urban Bourbon Trail® and expanded visitor experiences signal continued momentum
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 23, 2026)—Bourbon City keeps finding new ways to raise the bar.
This spring, Louisville Tourism is introducing the Bourbon City Companion, a curated guide designed to help visitors explore the city’s bourbon culture with fresh perspective—from distilleries and tasting rooms to cocktail bars, culinary pairings and immersive experiences across the city.
At the same time, the Urban Bourbon Trail®—one of Louisville’s original bourbon tourism drivers—continues its evolution, shifting toward a more curated, best-in-class collection of bars that showcase the city’s deep bench of bourbon expertise and hospitality.
Together, these updates reflect a broader trend: Louisville’s bourbon scene isn’t just growing—it’s getting more intentional, more experiential and more connected.
Visitors can choose from more than two dozen distilleries and tasting rooms, all within minutes of one another, making Louisville one of the only places in the world where a bourbon experience is truly walkable. And increasingly, that experience is happening on foot.
After a brief hiatus, the Whiskey Row Walking Tour has returned to downtown, once again offering a guided, street-level way to experience the history, craftsmanship and characters that shaped Bourbon City—complete with stops, tastings and storytelling along historic Main Street.
And for those looking to go deeper, experiences are expanding. Local operator Mint Julep Experiences is also broadening its offerings with multi-day bourbon itineraries anchored in Louisville, giving travelers a more immersive way to explore the city and the surrounding region.
It’s part of a larger shift in how visitors approach bourbon travel—moving beyond single stops to more immersive, multi-day journeys rooted in place.
“Bourbon has always been part of Louisville’s story—but what’s happening now is something bigger,” said Cleo Battle, President and CEO of Louisville Tourism. “We’re seeing a new generation of experiences take shape—more curated, more connected and more reflective of the culture that makes this city special. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, there’s always something new to discover in Bourbon City.”
From hands-on blending experiences and chef-driven dinners to hidden speakeasies and historic distilleries along Whiskey Row, Louisville continues to build on its reputation as the Gateway to Bourbon Country—while offering an experience that stands on its own.
New and evolving experiences are adding to that depth, including Big Bat Bourbon’s intimate bourbon blending experience, where visitors can blend and bottle their own custom pour along with Louisville Slugger–inspired storytelling that ties America’s pastime to the city’s distilling roots. Nearby, Chicken Cock Whiskey’s The Coupe speakeasy brings a bold, boundary-pushing energy nearby Whiskey Row, pairing heritage branding with modern cocktails and an inviting space designed for both seasoned bourbon fans and curious newcomers.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Hotel Distil’s new speakeasy called 1933 Society offers a hidden, Prohibition‑era–inspired escape, blending craft cocktails, immersive design and a sense of discovery that reflects Louisville’s long history with bourbon and rebellion alike. 1933 Society will open to the public on May 5.
