LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 8, 2026) – Louisville will come together January 15 to honor the enduring legacy of Muhammad Ali—our city’s most iconic son—at a first‑day‑of‑issue ceremony for the United States Postal Service Muhammad Ali Forever Stamps. The celebration will take place Thursday, January 15 at 12:00 p.m. at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium The indoor event is free and open to the public, with free parking available.
Louisville’s story cannot be told without Muhammad Ali. Born and raised here, Ali’s journey—grounded in courage, conviction, and a lifelong commitment to justice—helped shape the character of Louisville and continues to inspire new generations. Today, “Ali Tourism” remains a cornerstone of Louisville’s visitor experience, anchored by the Muhammad Ali Center, recognized on the U.S. Civil Rights Trail.
The first‑day‑of‑issue ceremony will feature remarks from distinguished guests who have chronicled, championed, and preserved Ali’s legacy, including Lonnie Ali, Co‑Founder, President & CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center; Bob Costas, award‑winning broadcaster and author; Neil Leifer, award‑winning photographer and filmmaker; Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman; and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, with additional speakers to be announced
The two new Forever Stamps feature Muhammad Ali’s likeness, designed by USPS art director Antonio Alcalá using a 1974 Associated Press photograph. The Forever Stamp is fitting as Ali famously quipped, “I should be a postage stamp, because that’s the only way I’ll ever get licked.”
The ceremony will take place from 12-1pm at the Angel’s Envy Bourbon Club, inside L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, which is located at 2550 S. Floyd Street. The launch event is free and open to the public; however reservations are required using this link.
