Louisville Blossoms with the Return of Art in Bloom at the Speed Art Museum

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 23, 2026)— Louisville's vibrant arts and culture scene will be in full bloom July 31 through August 2 as the Speed Art Museum welcomes back Art in Bloom, one of the city's most visually stunning annual events.
For one colorful weekend, visitors can experience the Speed's galleries transformed by imaginative floral installations created by 16 of Louisville's most talented floral designers. Inspired by works from the museum's permanent collection, the arrangements create a unique intersection of art and nature, offering guests a fresh perspective on beloved masterpieces while celebrating local creativity.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can take part in docent-led tours that explore the artwork behind the floral interpretations and learn more about the connections between the museum's collection and the installations inspired by them.

Botanical Impressions
Saturday, Aug. 1 | 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Louisville-based fiber and mixed media artist Sarah Jane Castellon will guide participants through botanical dyeing and eco-printing techniques, helping guests create a custom bandana using flowers and plant-based dyes.
Pressed Botanicals: The Art of Pressed Flowers
Saturday, Aug. 1 | 1 to 2 p.m.
Paula Henson of Above the Dirt: Garden and Honey Shop will teach participants how to preserve flowers and create their own framed botanical artwork.
Celebrate the Weekend in Bloom
Sunday, Aug. 2 | 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The weekend culminates with the Art in Bloom closing reception. Guests can mingle with participating floral designers while enjoying floral-inspired beverages and small bites among the installations.
Although the hands-on workshops and closing reception are a ticketed event, viewing the floral displays is included with regular museum admission, making it a great pairing to a weekend exploring additional Louisville museums, historic neighborhoods, restaurants and attractions.
