Kentucky Opera Announces New Season, Marking Return to the Historic Brown Theatre
LOUISVILLE, KY – Kentucky Opera’s 2026–2027 season brings a compelling mix of beloved classics and bold new works to Louisville, highlighted by a long-awaited return to the historic W. L. Lyons Brown Theatre.
Anchored in themes of family—both found and created—the upcoming season invites audiences to experience powerful storytelling through music, while showcasing the depth of Louisville’s arts scene and its collaborative spirit.
The season opens October 9 and 11, 2026, with Rossini’s lively comedy The Barber of Seville, marking Kentucky Opera’s return to the Brown Theatre ahead of its full transition back to its longtime home. Other performances will take place at the Kentucky Opera Center for Cultural Health and Whitney Hall, offering visitors multiple ways to experience opera across the city.
Throughout the season, Kentucky Opera will partner with local and regional organizations, including a collaboration with the Louisville Orchestra for Strauss’ Salome, reinforcing Louisville’s reputation as a city where arts institutions work together to create memorable cultural experiences.

Presented in collaboration with the Louisville Orchestra, this dramatic and visually striking production brings one of opera’s most powerful stories to life.
In addition to mainstage productions, the season will feature a variety of special events and experiences throughout Louisville, including SongWeek, a holiday cabaret, and a new Supper Club series celebrating the city’s culinary scene.
