A Louisville Music Tribute to Louisville Music Set for May 13-14 at Zanzabar Eight Bands Will Play Music by Louisville Artists to Raise Funds for Poorcastle

LOUISVILLE, KY. – March 17, 2016 – Abbey Road on the River pays tribute to the Beatles. Gonzo Fest pays homage to Hunter S. Thompson. Mac Sabbath bows down to the music of Black Sabbath. On May 13 and 14, eight local bands will play the music of other local bands as part of A Louisville Music Tribute to Louisville Music at Zanzabar.

The event is a fundraiser associated with Poorcastle; each band will play a set of songs written and recorded by Louisville-based artists, of which each participating musician has found most influential. Expect to hear songs by artists ranging from Tim Krekel to Slint and My Morning Jacket.

“A Louisville Music Tribute to Louisville Music is a sister event to Poorcastle and stemmed from how supportive our local music scene truly is of each other,” said Shaina Wagner, Poorcastle co-founder and Director of Operations. “Often, you can go to a local show such as Twin Limb and see local musician Tender Mercy there, then to a Phourist and the Photons show and see Tall Squares there in support. And vice versa.”

Justin Paul Lewis, Cher Von and Howell Dawdy are among the local acts that will perform as part of A Louisville Music Tribute to Louisville Music.

Admission is $5/night and will go toward helping to make Poorcastle a reality once again. Poorcastle is an annual fundraiser for local music interests, primarily non-profit community radio station Crescent Hill Radio, which plays all local music.

“We are so grateful for Zanzabar for partnering with us and for the incredible participating musicians on this event,” Wagner said. “Money raised will be used to help fund the ever-increasing expenses related to Poorcastle Festival to accommodate the growth year-to-year. The more money we can raise now, the more we can donate to local charities.”

She added that the final lineup for Poorcastle, which is a three-day festival, will be released on April 1. More information is available at Poorcastle.com. Below are the lineups for A Louisville Music Tribute to Louisville Music.
