Early Morning Snack – HEINE BROTHERS’ COFFEE* – Before starting your day at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, grab a coffee and a pastry at Heine Brothers Coffee on Main Street, around since 1994.
KENTUCKY SCIENCE CENTER - Explore three floors of exciting, interactive, and hands-on exhibits that offer fun for the whole family. Explore the mysteries of space and gain an astronauts’ point of view when you climb inside a space capsule. Unravel the mysteries of ancient Egypt as you follow the story of a 2,500-year-old mummy.
FRAZIER HISTORY MUSEUM - Explore over 1,000 years of history throughout the Frazier History Museum with interactive exhibits, hands-on learning opportunities, and seeing history come to life through costumed actors who bring visitors face-to-face with some of the events and people who changed the world. While at the Frazier Museum, be sure to check out “The Hunger Games: The Exhibition,” showing now through September 10.
LOUISVILLE SLUGGER MUSEUM & FACTORY - Located along Louisville “Museum Row,” you can’t miss the 120-foot-tall Louisville Slugger bat welcoming you to the museum and factory. See how the famous Louisville Slugger bats are made, and hold bats actually used by baseball superstars. Experience what it’s like to face a 90-mile-per-hour fastball or take a swing with historic replica bats in the batting cages.
Lunch - WAGNER’S PHARMACY* – The history of the Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs is written on the walls of Wagner’s Pharmacy. Opened in 1922, and featured in everything from the Los Angeles Time to Southern Living to the movie “Secretariat,” Wagner’s is a must for breakfast before heading over to explore Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum.
KENTUCKY DERBY MUSEUM - Experience the greatest 2 minutes in racing at the Kentucky Derby Museum. Be a part of the thrills and traditions of the race as you watch the “Greatest Race” in a 360-degree theatre. Step into the announcer’s booth and call the play-by-play for the race, or try on the jockey silks and climb aboard a race horse to see who in the family has first place bragging rights. Tour the historic Churchill Downs to learn the history of the track and see up close the famous track itself. Before leaving, be sure to grab an afternoon snack, like a slice of the famous Derby Pie or Bourbon Bread Pudding, at the Derby Café.
SPEED ART MUSEUM – Explore the Speed’s collections, spanning more than 6,000 years of human creativity, culture, and experiences that inspire curiosity, build visual literacy, and teach about the world around us. After a recent expansion project, the Speed Museum has something for everyone—modern art, classical pieces, regional history, and hands-on learning for the younger crowd in the Art Sparks area.
LOUISVILLE ZOO – Home to more than 1,700 animals, the Louisville Zoo is dedicated to creating a bond between people, animals, and the planet. See live gorillas up-close, walk below a polar bear sleeping above you, catch the wings of the world bird show, pet or feed an animal during your visit. There’s a lot to do and explore within the Louisville Zoo.
Dinner - CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS* - Offering the best in riverside dining in the region, Captain’s Quarters is situated along the scenic banks of the Ohio River.
