Breakfast - NORD’S BAKERY* - A local favorite and featured on numerous “must try” food lists, be sure to fuel up on the infamous maple bacon donut at Nord’s Bakery in Germantown before starting your day of adventure.
KENTUCKY KINGDOM AND HURRICANE BAY – Time for a fast-paced day of thrills! Enjoy rides for all types—from thrill rides to live shows to floating in the lazy river. Having reopened a few years ago, the newly revamped Kentucky Kingdom continues to add to its coaster roster, this year with an old favorite. Going off of the parks dormant T2, Kentucky Kingdom rolls out what it bills the Next Generation of Fear, the T3- Terror to the Third Power.
Dinner – GARAGE BAR*– As you cruise down to Garage Bar, be on the lookout for the cars that are part of an art installation that simulates a slow crash in front of the restaurant, the light-up ping pong table and the furniture that looks like hedges! A nod to its roots as a historic saloon, Garage Bar serves up ice cold draft and bottled craft beers, Kentucky Bourbons, seasonal cocktails, and wine. The casual neighborhood spot features pizzas from a wood-fired brick oven, Southern specialties, and delectable seafood, with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. P.S. If you’ve seen the movie Elizabethtown, Garage Bar’s former life as a service station is showcased in one of the scenes between Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst.
Breakfast - TOAST ON MARKET* - Begin the day with a fabulous breakfast of pancakes, French toast, or omelets at Toast on Market, located in the NULU gallery district in downtown Louisville.
LOUISVILLE QUEST - Part race, part scavenger hunt, part sightseeing tour—it’s like the “Amazing Race,” but Louisville-style. The Louisville Quest is a great way to explore downtown Louisville. Answer questions and solve puzzles to see who can finish the race in the fastest time…all while seeing the sights of Louisville.
LOUISVILLE SLUGGER MUSEUM & FACTORY - You can’t miss the 120-foot-tall Louisville Slugger bat welcoming you to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. See how the famous bats are made, hold bats actually used by baseball’s superstars, experience what it’s like to face a 90-mile-per-hour fastball, or take a sing with historic replica bats in the batting cages. You even get to take a mini Slugger bat home with you!
FRAZIER HISTORY MUSEUM - Explore over 1,000 years of history throughout the Frazier History Museum with interactive exhibits, hands-on learning opportunities, and seeing history come to life through costumed actors who bring visitors face-to-face with some of the events and people who changed the world. While at the Frazier Museum, be sure to check out “The Hunger Games: The Exhibition,” now showing through September 10.
MUHAMMAD ALI CENTER - Stroll through the award-winning, multicultural center dedicated to the life and legacy of Louisville’s native son, Muhammad Ali. Learn the story behind Ali’s incredible live and the core principles that fueled his journey to become the “Greatest of All Time.” You can event step into the boxing ring and take on the Champ, see a replica of the infamous red bike that started his boxing career, and get an up-close look at the Olympic torch he used to light the cauldron at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
EVAN WILLIAMS BOURBON EXPERIENCE – This artisanal distillery celebrates the legacy of Evan Williams, Kentucky’s first distiller. Guests will journey through an immersive tour experience that brings to life the history and traditions of Kentucky’s native spirit complete with a tasting of those spirits.
Dinner - AGAINST THE GRAIN* – Located on Louisville’s historic “Whiskey Row” featuring an artisanal distillery, tours, tastings and more. Celebrating the legacy of Evan Williams, Kentucky’s first distiller, this immersive experience brings to life the history and tradition of Kentucky’s native spirit. After your tour, head up to On3 for a specialty bourbon cocktail created by the Evan Williams Mixologist.
After Dinner - LOUISVILLE BATS – Finish up your day cheering on the Louisville Bats, the minor league team for the Cincinnati Reds, at Louisville Slugger Field. Situated in downtown Louisville near Waterfront Park, a Louisville Bats game has everything from hearing the crack of the bat to great ballpark food to a kid’s area with a carousel. After the game, be sure to stick around for the Friday Night Fireworks show. Or a Louisville City FC Soccer game. The LOUISVILLE CITY FC is a professional soccer club playing at Louisville Slugger Field. Experience the excitement before the game when the fans, The Coopers, march into the stadium dressed in the colors of their favorite team.
