KENTUCKY PEERLESS DISTILLERY – The first Peerless whiskey went into barrels in the 1889, and in 2015, Peerless Whiskey was filling barrels for the first time since Prohibition in 1917. The 4th & 5th generations of the family have revived Peerless Whiskey in downtown Louisville, in 2017, their first brown spirit in 100 years under the Peerless name was bottled. Stop by for a tour of this state-of-the-art facility to discover by Food Network’s Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio lists Kentucky Peerless Rye among one of his favorites.
MUHAMMAD ALI CENTER - Stroll through the award-winning, multicultural center dedicated to the life and legacy of Louisville’s native son, Muhammad Ali. Learn the story behind Ali’s incredible live and the core principles that fueled his journey to become the “Greatest of All Time.” You can event step into the boxing ring and take on the Champ, see a replica of the infamous red bike that started his boxing career, and get an up-close look at the Olympic torch he used to light the cauldron at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
LOUISVILLE SLUGGER MUSEUM & FACTORY - You can’t miss the 120-foot-tall Louisville Slugger bat welcoming you to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. See how the famous bats are made, hold bats actually used by baseball’s superstars, experience what it’s like to face a 90-mile-per-hour fastball, or take a sing with historic replica bats in the batting cages. You even get to take a mini Slugger bat home with you!
Lunch - THE KENTUCKY TACO COMPANY*- Seeking out flavors from around the world to and combining them with familiar flavors and southern-style recipes, the Kentucky Taco Company provides an alternative journey to that of “regular tacos.”
KENTUCKY DERBY MUSEUM - Experience the greatest 2 minutes in racing at the Kentucky Derby Museum. Be a part of the thrills and traditions of the race as you watch the “Greatest Race” in a 360-degree theatre. Step into the announcer’s booth and call the play-by-play for the race, or try on the jockey silks and climb aboard a race horse to see who in the family has first place bragging rights. Tour the historic Churchill Downs to learn the history of the track and see up close the famous track itself. Before leaving, be sure to grab an afternoon snack, like a slice of the famous Derby Pie or Bourbon Bread Pudding, at the Derby Café.
LOUISVILLE MEGA CAVERN – A man-made, 17-mile cavern lies beneath the city of Louisville, and is home to four unique attractions. One of the largest caverns in the U.S., the Louisville Mega Cavern offers a historical tram tour of the cavern, the Mega Quest ropes course, the only underground zip line course — Mega Zips, and first of its kind Mega Underground Bikes Course with over 12 miles of interconnected trails.
Dinner - THE BELLE OF LOUISVILLE* - Cruise along the Ohio River aboard the oldest operating river steamboat in the country, and enjoy a Kentucky-inspired dinner. The paddlewheel-driven Belle of Louisville was built in 1914, and is the only river steamboat to reach 100 years old. Take some time to explore the Belle and see her massive steam-powered engines that date to the mid-1890s. Along the way, enjoy some live music, enjoy a wonderful meal, and see what life along the river banks looks like and cruise beneath some bridges that connect Kentucky and Indiana.
