Louisville began welcoming group gatherings back to the city in July 2020. Planners and organizers followed strict protocol, and in coordination with local and state health officials Louisville has been able to host a variety of events safely and successfully. Some of the signature events included the 2020 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks (rescheduled from May to September), the National Street Rod Association 51st Annual Street Rod Nationals, which brought in over 7,000 vehicles as part of the annual event, Kentucky Association of School Administrators, and the North American International Livestock Exposition.
A variety of sporting events have also taken place including: Pastime Tournaments 2020 14U National Championship, USA BMX Derby City Nationals, Live In Lou Cross Country Classic, the nation’s largest college and high school cross country meet, University of Louisville Men’s Basketball Wade Houston Tipoff Classic and other events in professional and youth soccer, collegiate basketball, youth travel baseball and youth hockey.
