Twice As Nice: Dine Out Locally and Give a Helping Hand to Hard-Hit Restaurant Industry

Restaurant Week returns to support the Louisville community

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (February 17, 2021) – Returning for the second year with an even more critical mission to support local restaurants, Louisville Restaurant Week will provide a double punch of support by helping encourage locals to experience Louisville’s treasured independent culinary gems, as well as donating to the McAtee Community Kitchen, a newer start-up charity developed during the initial outbreak of COVID-19 in June 2020. The week runs February 22-28, 2021.

This dining or take-out out focused week will encourage locals to experience Louisville’s lively culinary scene with a pre-fixe three course menu for $26, $36 or $46 at participating restaurants. In addition, one dollar of the first 1,000 meals purchased during Louisville Restaurant Week will be donated to the McAtee Community Kitchen, which provides family meal, groceries, supplies and ongoing opportunities to families in need across Louisville’s West End, Shelby Park, and Smoketown neighborhoods. To add further community support, Louisville Tourism will match the Louisville Restaurant Week donation to the McAtee Community Kitchen.

McAtee Community Kitchen does more than providing meals by also empowering the work of young Black leaders in the culinary space and honors the memory of Chef David McAtee, a Louisville BBQ chef who devoted his time and his career to helping people in his community. The McAtee Community Kitchen is a project of The Lee Initiative, a non-profit run by James Beard Foundation finalist Chef Edward Lee and Lindsey Ofcacek.

“As Louisville’s restaurants navigate these challenging times, Louisville Tourism is proud to support Louisville Restaurant Week by encouraging diners to get out and support one of our hardest-hit industries during this critical time – while also bringing the McAtee Community Kitchen’s great work to the forefront,” said Karen Williams, President & CEO of Louisville Tourism. “As we focus on re-building our hospitality industry, I cannot think of a better time to band together to dine-in or take-out in support of our local restaurant owners and staff.”

Louisville continues to gain national exposure as a culinary destination. USA Today proclaimed Bourbon City one of “30 U.S. Cities with Underrated Food Scenes” while Wallet Hub named Louisville a “Best Foodie City.”

Current participating restaurants include: 8Up Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen, Four Pegs, Le Moo, two LouVino locations, Mesh, Napa River Grill, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Sarino, The Melting Pot, The Village Anchor and Vincenzo’s - as well as these new-to-Louisville dining spots: Board and You and Matt Winn’s Steakhouse - with more to be announced.

Each restaurant will have the ability to highlight fan favorites as well as introduce some new menu items to their guests throughout the week.
