Job Description The Director of Housekeeping will provide supervision, direction and qualitative management of the Housekeeping, Laundry, and Public Area departments, to ensure that the highest levels of cleanliness and guest satisfaction are maintained. They will provide a work environment that promotes integrity, fosters teamwork, recognizes initiative, and ensures excellence throughout the department. Work Requirements Hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide avenues of open communication with team members and handle disciplinary issues. Develop, recommend, implement and manage the housekeeping's labor staff and annual budget for housekeeping and laundry areas. Manage the housekeeping monthly forecast for labor productivity, and management. Knowledge of Unifocus, HotSOS, Rex and Opera (PMS) Determines and maintains the departments weekly work schedule Keep informed of industry trends and current technology to maximize revenue and maintain competitive position. Develop, implement, and monitor training programs to insure the highest level of customer service throughout the department. Resolve customer complaints; follow through on Medallia the guest satisfaction surveys as deemed appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Schedule and conduct department meetings that motivate and prepare staff, ensure shift change updates are completed, realign department goals and increase department accuracy and productivity. Manage relationships with vendors, outside contractors and individuals providing services to the Housekeeping Department. Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct. Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards within the housekeeping & laundry departments. Ensures the proper maintenance of all equipment; makes arrangements for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment. Maintain complete knowledge at all times of: status of hotel room count, group arrival, VIP’s, special events, and knowledge of job responsibility of staff Maintains regular contact with the Front Desk to provide timely check-in/outs or priority needs Inspects guest rooms daily for preventative maintenance, needed repairs, bed bugs and ensures cleaning standards are maintained. Checks vacant rooms to verify condition and possible occupancy, notifies front desk of any discrepancies. Schedules deep cleaning as required. Areas such as window washing, shampooing of carpets, general cleaning of public areas. Maintains inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, guest room supplies and all housekeeping supplies; places orders for replacement of all necessary supplies and equipment; records the arrival of all ordered supplies and equipment, codes, invoices, and submits through Birchstreet to the accounting Department for payment. Originates work orders in HotSOS for needed repairs to guest rooms or public areas and reviews them with the Maintenance Department and the General Manager. Ensures that all cleaning agents are properly diluted and used according to instructions. Maintains accountability for issuance and control of all Housekeeping keys and electronic devices. Manage inventory: cleaning supply, amenities, equipment, linen, terry, etc. Knowledge and executor of labor performance, productivity and others financial/operational subjects. Oversees lost and found procedures for all housekeeping areas and entire hotel. Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Operations. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent; College Degree preferred. Must have operational experience working in the Housekeeping Department of a 600 plus rooms property. 5 years of Housekeeping management experience. Proven positive leadership skills with a focus on training and development within the department. Bilingual highly desired; excellent communication skills verbally and written. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, very diverse office environment. Physical ability to clean, lift, push, pull moderate weight, reach, move furniture and operate equipment.
