As part of the leadership team driving the organization’s long-term mission and strategy, the Sr. Director of Finance and Business Operations oversees all aspects of financial management, operational planning budgeting, and financial reporting in order to anticipate, shape, and drive financial objectives and trends in service of the Ali Center mission. This position facilitates fiscal strategy, planning, and administration, with the responsibility to report to and advise leadership team members and the Board.  This position requires strong communication and team-building skills and will be responsible for risk management, investment oversight, enterprise support services, leases/contracts, information systems, facility maintenance budgets, and long-term capital expense planning. Highlighted Responsibilities: With broad oversight of and responsibility for the financial function, information technology, and business operations for the organization going forward, specific areas of responsibility include: Finance: Working closely with President and CEO as well as senior management team to develop financial strategies and operating plans by anticipating trends and events and establishing functional objectives in line with strategic and organizational plans. Identifying best practices and revenue/expense initiatives to drive organizational improvements. Driving the development and implementation of a broad range of financial planning, analysis and organizational metrics including but not limited to attendance, expense analysis, and productivity. Working with the management team to develop operating budgets, guiding revenue and expense targets in line with organizational objectives and association management best practice. Overseeing financial and accounting system controls and standards and ensuring accurate and timely financial and statistical reports for management and Board of Directors. Working with the Assistant Director of Accounting and Administration to complete general accounting procedures, establishing and maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring the procurement of insurance. Managing the development of budgets and forecasts as well as preparation and presentation of financial reports to the Ali Center’s Finance Committee and Board of Directors. Advising the Board of Directors’ Finance, Investment, and Development committees. Managing external financial stakeholder relationships including banking and investment partners, auditors, IRS and other compliance authorities and donors/ grantors. Planning, organizing and leading all audits and compliance reviews. Coordinating, reviewing and managing completion and submission of annual 990. Information Technology: Determines the goals of IT within broad outlines provided by the executive management and provides necessary technical oversight and project coordination. Manages technology systems, ensuring smooth operations, appropriate use within the organization, and maintenance contracts. Acts as liaison between 3rd party IT vendors and staff for informational updates and problem resolution. Maintains strong internal controls and establishment of best practice for IT systems to ensure MAC mitigates the risk of an IT breach. Office and Facilities Administration: Collaborate with Sr. Dir Events and Operations on the development and execution of a long-term facility plan and supports the plan with the negotiation, budgeting, and administration of contracts to protect the assets of the organization Advises, negotiates, administers and maintains a database for all substantive contracts into which the organization may enter. A well-qualified candidate will possess the following: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Advanced degree preferred. CPA and/or CAE highly desired. 5-7 years of successful and progressively responsible experience as a financial manager, and minimum 1-3 years as an effective senior financial leader. Nonprofit, trade and/or member association experience strongly preferred. Advanced proficiency in MS Office software; specifically, advanced Excel skills; solid knowledge of accounting, donor management and other business-related software, experience with Financial Edge/Blackbaud software a plus.
