POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for leading the group services team that manages the destination experience of over 600 meetings, conventions and events taking place in Louisville annually.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively support and lead the group services team as they provide services and manage incoming conventions, meetings, events, and festivals.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget for group services and assist in the annual development of goals and strategies for the department.
  • Oversee all department processes, and group services related to pre-planning and promoting Louisville to convention attendees, welcoming events, and onsite needs related to city services, public safety and logistics to ensure clear communication across all stakeholders and the development of efficiencies when possible.
  • Serve as the primary account manager for select high-profile events each year based on scope and timeframe.
  • Work as the primary liaison to department leaders in the organization with a focus on collaboration and workflow.
  • Build and maintain relationships throughout the city to engage community partners and connect them with incoming event planners.
  • Work alongside the Department VP on strategic initiatives for the organization related to visitor enhancements throughout the community.
  • Review and support professional development among staff – to include education, networking and personal performance metrics for each full-time staff member.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in leading people and fostering relationships, both internally and externally
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Event planning and coordination experience
  • Critical and creative thinking skills – ability to analyze and solve problems and improve processes
  • Strong knowledge of the Metropolitan Area, and all tourism-related infrastructure
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Associate or bachelor degree preferred
