POSITION SUMMARY: To promote and solicit meetings and events which generate room nights of 300 on peak or below in various market segments as assigned. Responsible for achieving individual sales goals annually. The current booking goal projection of 15,000 -20,000 room nights per year. Booking goals are established on an annual basis. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Solicit and generate new leads and repeat leads through telemarketing, mailings, emails, referrals, trade shows, sales calls, web research, and DI/Mint. Make formal written and oral presentations to clients. On an ongoing basis, review all hotels and conventions facilities and personnel at these properties to ensure a better understanding of their capabilities and to develop team spirit within the city and county. Partner with local community contacts in a cooperative effort to generate potential business for the city. Function as an official Louisville Tourism representative and liaison between the LT, hotels, facilities, and potential clients. Keep records of all activity in Simpleview for future follow-up. Keep financial records of all expenditures for sales calls, travel, client/partner entertainment, or promotions as the financial guidelines outline. Responsible for room nights booked annually as well as other goals established by the Senior VP of Convention Development and Director of Meetings Team Sales. Varying work schedule to reflect the needs of clients and Louisville Tourism (LT) needs. Perform additional duties as assigned by the SVP of Convention Development and Director of Meetings Team Sales. Coordinate, attend, and direct, special events such as sales missions, convention bids, trade shows, FAM tours, etc. Travel will be required with this position. Always professionally represent Louisville Tourism. QUALIFICATIONS: 3 to 5 years of industry experience. Hotel product and staff knowledge, previous client contact beneficial. An understanding of sales methods, procedures, and techniques is also required. Computer proficiency with MS Windows/Office, Presentation Software, and Sales Database Management Good communication skills, both written and oral, to interface well with LT staff, hotels, clients, and facilities Ability to calculate, project, and use numbers for planning, reporting, presentations, etc.
