Job purpose: 

Oversee and lead sales and operations for the Louisville Bats Special Events Business in order to achieve annual revenue goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for achieving sales goals and leading the team to ensure all events are executed with excellence
  • Develop, implement, and manage all non-game and in-game Special Events sales plan that is geared to achieve established financial and event goals
  • Coordinate all special event planning, preparation, and activation needs (including but not limited to) scheduling staff, arranging for support services, directing room usage and set-up, and managing events.
  • Maintain reporting systems for all finances associated with the Special Events Department including budgets, profit & loss, and monthly reconciliation of expenses and revenues
  • Prepare all marketing materials, event proposals, and presentations to clients
  • Act as liaison between third party vendors in order to obtain additional non-traditional revenues for the Louisville Bats
  • Assist all departments in executing programs and customer events in the ball park
  • Provide customer support to clients
  • Successfully develop and maintain relationships with Bats departments, Food Service, and all clients
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Experience, Education and Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Minimum of two years managing direct reports
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in sales or hospitality related field
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in event selling

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Persistent, self-motivated, out-going
  • Ability to supervise employees and delegate tasks accordingly
  • Ability to understand financials and manage a P/L
  • Thorough knowledge of safety and security of ball park facility
  • Full comprehension of food and beverage capabilities including menu selection and budgeting
  • Strong communication skills to both external and internal clients, including a diverse group of important external callers
  • Ability to coordinate meetings and conferences, obtaining supplies, and work on special projects
  • Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload
  • Work requires an excellent command of the English language
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications
  • Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Work requires continual attention to detail, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Working knowledge of coordinating events

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Typically requires walking, standing, bending, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. 
  • Requires extended work hours, weekends, and some holidays, as needed for special projects/events.

  • Perform duties as workload necessitates
