Yelp's Hot & New in Lou: From Farm to Tortilla with Farm+House Louisville
So much has gone virtual -- including the farmers market! Farm+House Louisville was created by Blair Leano-Helvey, Amy Shelton and Amy Guyton after the pandemic started, and it is dedicated to making fresh, local, Kentucky-grown food and products more available to the Louisville community with accessible ordering, convenient and contactless delivery and pick-up.
Through this virtual event, we'll start by learning more about Farm+House Louisville and its goals for the community. Then we'll get a sneak peak of La Moreña Panaderia y Tortilleria, one of its vendors. Owner Juan Malagon makes and sells expertly-made tortillas made with hand-ground Kentucky corn masa, along with other baked goods.
And then Chef Carlie Cornett of True North Catering, which also sells its delicious food via Farm+House Louisville, will lead everyone through a virtual cooking class using La Moreña's tortillas. Chef Cornett and guests will make spiced chicken torta sandwiches, with green chili jack cheese spread, tomato, onion, cabbage slaw with cilantro lime aioli and served with chips and a salsa. She will also lead everyone through making a dessert.
Ingredients kits to make these dishes as part of this event will be sold via Farm+House Louisville as well. More info on this will be shared soon. These kits will be optional, and all ingredients will be released ahead of time too.
Want to stay in the know on the special ingredients kits and other details? RSVP for this event, and we'll email you when more info is available.
