The History of Geological Time

Understanding geological time is a fascinating story—a battle against medieval dogma. Geology’s late renaissance, compared to astronomy and biology, made the concept of geologic time one of science’s most recent developments. Whereas some understandings can be traced to one person, geological time evolved from the studies of many naturalists and geologists who investigated the rocks and fossils of Europe. Park naturalist and paleontologist Alan Goldstein will present this program, which is free with regular admission to the Interpretive Center.
