Fossil Corals of the Ohio Valley - Meet the Paleontologist
If you were to collect every coral species in a 50-mile radius of Louisville, you would have the most diverse collection of ancient corals in the western hemisphere, and perhaps the world! The Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, and Mississippian rock layers contain close to 250 species. This free program, hosted by park naturalist and paleontologist, Alan Goldstein, will pull out a few of the exceptional corals found in our area and explain why we have such diversity – and interpret what it represents.
