Filson Historical Society, The

Overview

The Filson Historical Society, founded in 1884, is a privately-supported historical society dedicated to preserving and telling the history of Kentucky and the Ohio Valley Region.

The Filson is open Monday-Friday (excluding Holidays) 9-5pm for Research. Tours Monday 12-3pm and Tuesday-Friday at 2pm

The Filson is located in the heart of Old Louisville at the corner of Third Street and Ormsby Avenue.

Parking can be accessed from 3rd St. and the alleyway off Ormsby Ave. Additional parking is available as free street parking on 3rd St., 4th St., and Ormsby Ave. Please note there is no entrance to Filson parking from 4th St.
