The Bellwether Hotel, which opened in 2021 in the Highlands, recently expanded with their newest addition, the Bellwether House. The 2800 square foot house, directly adjacent to the hotel, was originally built as a single family home and was last used as an office space.
The team worked with architect Jeff Rawlins, who also worked on the hotel, to return the house to its original structure. It has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths, with an open living, dining and kitchen area, and sleeps 12 total. The design inspiration is French Maximalism using blush and beige tones throughout, and includes original art prints from local artist Jake Heustis. The furniture was sourced locally from Blue Ocean Traders, No Direction Home, and estate sales.
The Bellwether Hotel, located at 1300 Bardstown Road, fills the space of the former Highlands Police Station and the adjacent building which previously served as the home of the Louisville Ballet. The corner, in the heart of the Highlands, has been fully reimagined into a low-touch hotel designed to fit any type of traveler from larger parties to individual, and longer-term residents to just for the night.
