Local Restaurants Celebrate Mint Julep Month

After a long day of distillery visits and completing your Urban Bourbon Trail passport, you'll need to rest up and refuel if you're going to make it to the first Saturday in May. Luckily, we've rounded up some local restaurants celebrating Mint Julep Month all this April. See what classic or new twists they've taken on the Derby's official cocktail.

80/20 at Kaelin's - 1801 Newburg Rd.

Known as the "Birthplace of the Cheeseburger" Kaelin's is serving up their house made Mint Julep ice cream by the scoop ($3.75) or in a shake ($5.75).

If you're celebrating Mint Julep Month on the go, Alchemy has ready-to-eat meals available like this April with a Mint Julep Quesillo ($5) and Mint Julep Pork Pepito ($10.99).

Bae's Baekery - 1164 S. Brook St.

Run by a local couple in the heart of Old Louisville, Bae’s is seducing our sweet tooth with their Julep Brownie Bar - a thin mint crust topped Brown Butter Brownie with chocolate and mint chips, bourbon chocolate ganache, and house made peppermint patty ($5).

Buck's Restaurant and Bar - 425 W. Ormsby Ave.

Also in Old Louisville, and a long-standing member on the Urban Bourbon Trail, Buck's is serving up their classic Old Forrester Mint Julep ($10) located in the historic Mayflower building.

CASK Southern Kitchen & Bar - 9980 Linn Station Rd.

New to Louisville's dining scene, CASK is offering a free Maker's Mark cup with the purchase of every Maker's Mark CASK Julep served in a mint julep tin ($7).

Fork & Barrel Restaurant and Bar - 2244 Frankfort Ave.

Located on walkable Frankfort Avenue, Fork & Barrel is offering up a Blackberry Bourbon panna cotta with a peach compote, granola and fresh mint.

Fry Daddy’s - 1991 Brownsboro Rd.

Wash down your loaded fries with crawfish & shrimp in lemon garlic sauce ($20) with a refreshing Mint Julep Koolaid ($3).

J. Harrod's Restaurant - 7507 River Rd.

Head to prospect to try J. Harrod's Traditional Mint Julep ($6) or dessert Chocolate Mint Julep ($7).

Limón y Sal - 10000 Brownsboro Rd.

Limón y Sal is putting their own Mexican twist on their specialty Pineapple Julep, which is made with Woodford Reserve, fresh mint, pineapple simple syrup and a splash of ginger beer ($9).

Lucretia's Kitchen - 1812 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.

Known for their satisfying soul food, Lucretia's is serving up the South with a Mint Julep Sweet Tea & Minty Pink Lemonade ($2.99 or $4.99 with a special cup).

Morning Fork - 1722 Frankfort Ave.

Start your morning off with a lavender mint julep latte or cappuccino, complete with lavender syrup, Buffalo Trace bourbon cream, and garnished with a mint sprig.

Noosh Nosh - 4816 Brownsboro Center

Find a wide variety of menu items ranging from brunch, lunch and dinner while you sip on a Craft Mint Julep ($10).

Head to Prospect's neighborhood pub & grill for their House Mint 'Mulep' ($8).

The Silly Axe Café - 2216 Dundee Rd. #7U

Silly Axe is the only gluten free dedicated restaurant in Louisville and is serving up Mint Julep pork tacos with a mint whoopie pie dessert for ($5.99).

Six Forks Burger Company - 1270 S. Preston St.

Known for having some of the most mouthwatering burgers in Louisville, be sure to grab a Derby Burger - double patties topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, ham, & fried egg ($12.99) and some Mint Julep Koolaid ($3) while hanging out in Shelby Park.

With one of the most happening patios in the Highland's neighborhood, it'll be easy to celebrate Mint Julep Month at Taco City with their Hibiscus Julep, which includes Old Forrester, Hibiscus syrup, mint and becherovka liqueur ($5.99).
