In these uncertain times, something that remains certain is our human need to connect. Though we currently can't do that in person, tourism organizations like ours have been working to curate our community assets and share them virtually. For locals, this has been connecting them to restaurants that are offering special carry out options or local specialty retail with curbside pickup. Anyone with internet access can now enjoy virtual content from a variety of creative arts and attractions. You can explore the world from your living room like never before.
That's why we decided to continue with special programming we have presented since 2013. Though the Kentucky Derby has been postponed until September and we won't have the usual minty events to gather at this year, Louisville Tourism will be hosting a virtual #MintJulepMonth for 2020.
For the month of April, we will be curating content from local partners and YOU on all things Mint Julep. We will tell the history of the cocktail that has been so long associated with our Southern culture and horse-racing, including the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports. We will share recipes from our favorite Urban Bourbon Trail bars and Louisville mixologists and reveal some fun online shopping where you can purchase "mint condition" items to get you in the spirit at home.
Read more about #MintJulepMonth at home and follow along with us at @GoToLouisville on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Join us for "happy hour" each day at 4:30 pm EST on Twitter as we get in virtual position for our daily "Bourbon with Beshear" at 5. (or as some folks call it, the Kentucky Governor's daily coronavirus briefing)
So stay #healthyathome and know that the sun will shine bright again on our old Kentucky homes - and yours wherever you are - hopefully very soon.
