September 2, Joyce Howlett conducted a site visit with Karen Cassmeyer,
CMP with The National Companies. They are working to finalize plans
for the 2009 conference with the possibility of 2010 and 2011. This conference
represents 7,665 total room nights and $2.9 million in economic development.

September 5, Joyce will attend the pre-con for the National Association of Postal Supervisor's 100th Anniversary
National Convention. This convention represents 9,970 total room nights and $3.7 million in economic development.

September 5-9, Kate Amara will attend the Student Youth Travel Association Annual Convention in San
Antonio, TX. Kate will have the opportunity to meet with over 120 tour operators
and travel decision makers during preset appointments.

September 5, a Ryder Cup Hospitality Rally will
be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center, South Wing B in Room 205 from 10 a.m.
- 11:30 a.m. or 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. All members of the hospitality industry are
invited to this final gathering as we prepare to welcome Ryder Cup guests.

When the PGA of America hosts the 37th Ryder Cup at Valhalla Golf
Club September 16-21, the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Metro Louisville will host
The Cup Experience, a fun-filled week of golf inspired celebrations. We

The Bureau's HLA (Hospitality Louisville Ambassador) program
offers anyone working in the hospitality industry in the Louisville area a chance
to become a certified ambassador to Louisville. The Hospitality Louisville program
will be held September 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Cost of
the program for a member company is $79 per participant and $129 for a non-member
company. Group rates are available. Space is limited, so register today!

Louisville. The tour is a free 60-minute walk led by volunteers. If you would

The Bureau will host its annual Golf Classic on Monday,
October 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lake Forest Golf Club. This is a fantastic
and fun opportunity for hospitality industry leaders to enjoy a great day of golf

Tuesday, November 11, the Bureau will host the 2008 Recognition
of Service Excellence (ROSE) Awards to honor the individuals within the hospitality
industry who truly make the city's first impression, and always make sure it's
a good one. From the taxi cab driver to the concierge to the reservationist, help
us pay tribute to those that are the best of the best. Nominations are being accepted

September 2, a press conference was held to announce the opening of the Old Forester exhibit at 626 W. Main Street and to proclaim
September 2 as "Old Forester George Garvin Brown Day." It was also announced
that the exhibit will become the 9th stop on the Urban Bourbon Trail. At this historic site, visitors can have
photos taken with an eight-foot replica of the Old Forester water tower and experience
the rich history of Brown-Forman's hometown spirit through a variety of exhibits
on a self-guided tour. Passports can be picked up at any of the stops on the trail,
or at the Louisville Visitors Center at the corner of 4th & Jefferson. Pictured
