  • October 6 – 7, Angi Van Berg conducted a site visit with the International Association of Administrative Professionals who is looking to bring its 2015 annual meeting to Louisville. If Louisville is selected, it will generate 6,265 room nights and an estimated economic impact of $2,673,820.

  • October 7 – 9, Mark Barnes will meet with Charles Sadler and Chris Middleton. Both are with the Society for Government Meeting Planners and are meeting with Mark to work on plans for the group’s 2009 annual conference that will be held in Louisville, May 13 – 16, 2009.

  • October 10, Joyce Howlett and Zack Davis will meet with Wayne Daniels from HelmsBriscoe.

  • The Tourism Department will host its third Lunch in Louisville familiarization tour on Friday, October 10. Nine clients, representing potential overnight motorcoach business to the city, will experience a first-hand look at what Louisville has to offer.

  • October 13 – 15, the Tourism Department will attend the Kentucky Tourism Council’s annual conference in Bowling Green, Ky.

  • The Bureau’s annual Golf Classic was held on Monday, October 6, at Lake Forest Country Club. Thank you to everyone who participated.   • On Tuesday, November 11, the Bureau will host the 2008 Recognition of Service Excellence (ROSE) Awards at the Louisville Marriott Downtown to honor the individuals within the hospitality industry who truly make the city's first impression, and always make sure it's a good one. From the taxi cab driver to the concierge to the reservationist, help us pay tribute to those that are the best of the best.

  • Bourbon Day at KeenelandStacey Yates and Nancy Stephen, pictured with Lisa Higgins of Mint Julep Tours, attended the Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft Bourbon Ball on Friday, October 3, at the Louisville Underground. This year, for the first time, the bourbon distilleries represented during the bourbon tasting were paired with an Urban Bourbon Trail restaurant that provided hors d’oeuvres.
