Get Into the Games!
- The 2007 Summer National Senior Games - The Senior Olympics presented by Humana will take place this summer June 22 - July 7. Louisville will host nearly 12,000 senior athletes and 15,000-20,000 spectators. The athletes will compete in 18 different sports in over 800 events contested over 16 days. Approximately 4,000 volunteers are needed to make this event successful. Volunteers are needed to assist with several specific sports, such as: horseshoes, basketball, swimming, track & field, volleyball and shuffleboard. Training will be provided, so no experience is necessary. Plus, help is needed with setup and teardown for all sports.
Currently, 12,000 volunteer shifts are available with over 150 volunteer activities. Register now to become part of the legacy of the Senior Games.

 The Mustang Club of America held its annual National Mustang and All Ford Show in Louisville this past weekend at the Masonic Homes of Kentucky on Frankfort Avenue. Over 6,000 people, from across the United States, Canada and Australia, attended the three day event, and more than 500 Mustangs were on display. Accessibility and geographic location were two of the reasons Louisville was awarded the honor of hosting the event, beating out San Francisco as the host city. May 29-30, Paul Moore and Aaron Baer will conduct a site inspection with Cindy Challis Orr from the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP). Louisville is being considered for the Fall 2007 AEMP Equipment Management Symposium which would generate 265 room nights and an estimated economic impact of $100,700.

May 30-31, Paul Moore and Karen Wallace will conduct a site inspection with Melanie Dungan from the National Farmers Organization. Louisville is being considered for the 2009 National Annual Convention which would generate 545 room nights and an estimated economic impact of $243,740.

May 31-June 1, Paul Moore will conduct a site inspection with Mary Luck from Civitan International. Louisville is being considered for the 2008 or 2009 Junior Civitan International Annual Convention Youth Group which would generate 325 room nights and an estimated economic impact of $123,500.

May 31, Casey Allen will attend the Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) breakfast at the Brown Hotel.
Bureau Services
- May 30, Cinnamon Jawor will host a pre-planning site visit with the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA). IFDA is scheduled to meet in Louisville October 7-8, 2007 bringing an economic impact of over $1 million.
- June 2-5, Rita Edmonds will promote Louisville at the American Industrial Hygiene Association's 2007 Professional Conference in Philadelphia. This conference is scheduled for Louisville October 19-23, bringing an economic impact of $633,020.

College Board AP Reading is meeting at KICC for the next two weeks. The reading brings together educators from all over the country to read advance placement exams. There are approximately 4,600 readers total for the two weeks of "readings." Reading session one is June 3-9 and reading session two is June 12-19. The Bureau will provide registration, city information and on-site housing assistance.

- The Bureau will host the next "Connect Four" today, Wednesday, May 30, at The Henry Clay, 604 S. 3rd St. from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Held four times a year, Connect Four offers business-networking opportunities in a relaxed, social setting. The New Louisville Hospitality Ambassador LHA Designation
The Hospitality Louisville program will run continuously throughout the year beginning on Wednesday, June 27 from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Cost of the program for a member company is $79 per participant and $129 for a non-member company. New Quarterly Restaurant Meetings to Begin in June
- The Bureau will begin hosting formal quarterly meetings with restaurant partners beginning on Wednesday, June 20 at 4 p.m. at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street.
