Convention Development

  • January 29, Joyce Howlett, Jennifer Barnett and Karen Wallace will attend a pre-convention meeting for the National Companies.

  • February 1, Susan Sauer will attend the monthly meeting for the Louisville Agricultural monthly meeting. Mr. Stephen Yates, Director of Agritourism for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA), will be the featured speaker and will discuss their new programs and the upcoming KDA Agritourism Summit.

Tourism Development

  • Gayla Schaftlein with the Louisville CVB is pictured here with Terry Hasseltine from Kentucky State Tourism at the Chicago Adventure Show. Gayla attended the leisure show over the weekend and helped promote Unbridled Adventure Travel to Louisville.

  • The State of Kentucky will hold a matching funds seminar on Thursday, February 7 at 1 p.m. at Paraquet Springs in Shepherdsville, KY. All not for profit attractions are encouraged to attend and learn more about the program. Rhonda Nicks, with the office of Tourism will be present to answer any questions and concerns. If you are interested in attending please RSVP to Gayla Schaftlein at gschaftlein@gotlouisville.com by February 6.

  • Please mark your calendars! Our first Attractions Network meeting for 2008 will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Holiday Inn Hurstbourne from 3-5 p.m.

Bureau Services

  • The next class for the Louisville Hospitality Ambassador LHA Designation is scheduled on Wednesday, January 30 from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Locust Grove on Blankenbaker Lane. Cost of the program for a member company is $79 per participant and $129 for a non-member company. Space is limited, so register today!   • The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau is looking for men and women of all ages to donate a few hours of their week as a convention greeter. It's is a great way to make new friends while promoting the city that you love.   • Society for Range Management is meeting at the Marriott Downtown. They are expecting 1,500 attendees with an economic impact of $1.3 million dollars. We are providing an onsite city concierge.

  • The National Companies - 2008 Winter Nationals is meeting at KICC. They are expecting 4,000 attendees with an economic impact of $2.7 million. We are providing registration assistance.

  • On Wednesday, March 12, the Bureau invites you to Business After Hours at Gardencourt at the Louisville Seminary, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. This popular trade show and networking event is held twice a year and gives partners the chance to exhibit and network with more than 350 business professionals and local meeting planners. This calendar is accessed daily by visitors/call center staff, as well as users of the world-wide-web, and is a source for the event’s listing on 530 AM radio. This calendar database is also used twice a year as the source for the Bureau’s Visitors Guide event calendar.

    Your event must be listed by February 1 to be included in the next Visitors Guide. For your convenience, click here for an instruction sheet on accessing the member login.
