8, Bureau Staff hosted the annual Kentucky Derby Luncheon in Washington D.C. Forty-five
clients attended the luncheon at the Willard Hotel--the site where Henry Clay
introduced the mint julep to Washington D.C.

April 8, Yvonne
Board met with the Local Chapter President of the National Association of Church Business Administrators to
discuss bringing the group's July 2013 confernce to Louisville, which would represent 5,000 room nights.

April 10 Mark Barnes and Lisa LeCompte will conduct a site visit
for the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association. The
group is considering Louisville for the 2013 National Conference. The event represents
10,115 room nights and an economic impact of $5.5 million.

April 8, Cinnamon Jawor and Susan Sauer hosted a planning visit
with Dick Holmes of the American Legion National Convention. The American Legion National
Convention will be held in Louisville August 21-17, 2009 bringing 12,500 attendees
with an economic impact of $9.5 million.

April 11, there
will be a pre-convention meeting for the APWA 2008 Snow Conference at KICC in room 203 at 9 a.m.

Rita Edmonds and Yvonne Board are hosting a planning visit for
Aglow International which will meet in Louisville October
22-24, 2009, bringing 6,000 attendees with a $2.5 million eeconomic impact.

April 8-10, Peggy Riley and Kate Amara will attend the African American Travel Conference at the Cleveland Convention
Center in Cleveland. Peggy and Kate have appointments with 100 Group Leaders and
Travel Planners. The conference is the nation's premier organization of African American Travel Planners.

Kentucky Department of Tourism Promotional Opportunity: "Backyard Treasures"
-
The Kentucky Department of Tourism (KDT) is beginning its “Discover
your own Backyard” promotion to entice Kentuckians to vacation in our home
state. Discover your own Backyard will be promoted, in part, through news releases,
both print and audio, radio spots, broadcast interviews and special events. As
part of this promotion, KDT will run a Backyard Treasures contest open only to
Kentucky residents. Kentuckians will be encouraged to visit the KDT homepage to register for the daily prizes that will be awarded during the contest.
KDT is seeking prize components to be used in the promotion which is designed
to increase awareness of Kentucky as a vacation choice for Kentuckians. Interested
sponsors must be willing to supply at least one prize with a minimum value of
$50. One prize will be awarded daily beginning May 1. KDT reserves the right to
combine prizes, with the donor’s permission, into prize packages. Interested
