Pegasus Parade for Student Groups

Day One
- Check Into Hotel
- Walking tour of Downtown: The Possibil-a-tour will explore the heart of downtown Louisville from Fourth Street to Whiskey Row to Museum Row and the civic district. Along the way the tour will stop at various points of interest including: The Kentucky International Convention Center, WhiskeyRow and the site of Louisville's first distillery, The Belvedere, Main Street including architectural features - Fort Nelson, the Museums on Main and the oldest building on Main, The civic center including - City Hall, The Court House, Thomas Jefferson Statue and Louis XVI statue and Fourth Street Live!

Evening
- Dinner aboard the Historic Belle of Louisville: Enjoy a scrumptious meal aboard one of the oldest paddle wheelers still in operating existence. Learn of her childhood years as a ferry between Tennessee and Arkansas. As a teenager during World War II, she often towed barges filled with oil along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. And finally leading in to her later years, she has become one of Louisville’s greatest treasures: A legendary Lady. Your group has the opportunity to practice you Pegasus Parade arrangements to a captive audience as you cruise up the mighty Ohio River.

Day Two
Morning
- Breakfast at Hotel
- Muhammad Ali Center: The Muhammad Ali Center serves as both a cultural attraction and international education center that is inspired by the ideals of its founder, Muhammad Ali. The Ali Center’s innovative and immersive visitor experience, public and educational programming, and global initiatives carry on Muhammad’s legacy and continue his life’s work. Two-and-a-half levels of interactive exhibits and captivating multimedia presentations introduce Ali’s epic life. The entrance to this wonderful facility offers a large outdoor raised amphitheater-style space for your students to practice and perform. The lobby of the Ali Center can also hold smaller performance groups.
- Frazier History Museum: History comes alive at The Frazier International History Museum in the 100,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art museum encompassing three floors. Here you can relive historical events that challenged our ancestors. You can meet heroes, generals, and famous leaders through live interpretations. Experience an unforgettable journey through 1,000 years of history covering two continents! Why not add to history and have your group perform among legends in the Lower Level foyer or the fourth floor event space.
- Glassworks: From tiny grains of raw material to works of art, see artistry at its finest at Glassworks, the country’s first complete center dedicated to the art of glass. Watch glassblowers, flame workers, cutters and designers create magnificent pieces of art in an open-air atmosphere. Have your group do a hands-on activity in the workshop to create their own pieces of magic to take home.
- Lunch on your own at Fest Da Ville on the waterfront. This event has grown leaps and bounds over the past few years. The Great Lawn on the Waterfront is dotted with food vendors of every type. Your group can take their pick from corn dogs, gyros, steak sandwiches and giant turkey legs just to name a few. Fresh squeezed Lemonade to cherry Icee’s will be on hand to wash it all down. Your group can find a spot at picnic tables or sit picnic style on the lawn itself. There is plenty of open space and many local business people taking time out of their day to experience this once a year tradition to provide an audience for your group.
- LouisvilleSlugger Museum and Factory: Tour the World- famous bat factory. Admire the world’s largest baseball bat before going inside to see how Louisville Sluggers are made. Have an all-star experience by swinging a bat just like Babe Ruth’s, facing down a 90 mph fastball and sharing a dugout with Mickey Mantle. The “Louisville Slugger” has been essential in the sport of baseball since 1884.
- Back to hotel to freshen up
Evening
- Slugger Field- Experience AAA baseball at it’s finest with the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Field. Your group can sit together and enjoy America’s pastime. The Louisville Bats are the AAA team to the Cincinnati Reds. You never know who you might see at a game. The Bats often times have many different theme nights so there are many sights and sounds to entertain. The biggest treat of the night is that you group can perform the National Anthem to start the game. What a memory!
- Dinner on your own at the ballpark. Hot Dogs, Peanuts and Cracker Jacks! Throw in some chicken strips or a steak sandwich too! Your group can make their own choices to add to the ballpark atmosphere.

Day Three
Morning
- Breakfast Lynn’s Paradise Café: Discover wildly sinful and truly southern concoctions at this one-of-kind eatery. With its quirky décor of ugly lamps and bottle cap art, you will feel truly at home while feeding your appetite with food and your mind with never ending eye candy. Lynn’s was named one of four most fun restaurants in America (according to Esquire Magazine).
- Kentucky Derby Museum/Churchill Downs: Experience Derby Day from the starting gate to the finish line. The Kentucky Derby Museum brings the pageantry and excitement of the Kentucky Derby to life. Feel the excitement of the crowds and hear the thunder of the hoofs with a presentation of “The Greatest Race”.
- Historic Old Louisville: Old Louisville Ghost Tours- Brace yourself for a tour of one of the nation’s largest historic preservation districts as you journey through haunted streets and scenic alleyways. Hear tales of an elegant past and hear eerie tales of spirits that refuse to vacate their turn-of-the century mansions.
- 4th Street Live! Hard Rock Café can offer your group a unique and tailored lunch. They have many different types of trivia games that you group can play for prizes. Why not learn about rock history with a Dead Rocker Scavenger Hunt. All the clues to win are located within the Louisville Hard Rock Café.
- American Printing House for the Blind and Museum(APH)-. Do you have a favorite book or magazine? Can you imagine what that book would look like in Braille? At the American Printing House for the Blind, you will be able to see how a book is “printed” for the visually impaired. APH is the oldest printing house in the United States and largest in the world for the visually impaired. Listen in as you hear a recording of books to special tapes. While here visit the Museum with its unique focus on artifacts relating to the educational history of blind and visually impaired people. APH is located close to the Kentucky School for the Blind. What a wonderful treat for those students to hear your group practice their Pegasus Parade composition on the ground of APH.
Evening
- Waterfront Park’s Fest Da Ville to view Great Steamboat Races: Witness this esteemed race that for years has existed between the Delta Queen from Cincinnati, Ohio and the Legendary Lady, the Belle of Louisville. Recently the Delta Queen has retired, yet the Belle of Louisville continues on strong. See her and her younger competitor tramp it out on the Mighty Ohio River. The Great Steamboat Race has always taken place as part of the Kentucky Derby Festival and always on the Wednesday before the Kentucky Derby. Come be a part of this tradition.
- Dinner at Bearno’s by the Bridge for Pasta buffet: Voted one of Louisville’s best values, Bearno’s by the Bridge offers a wonderful pizza and pasta buffet for your group. They can offer a great lower level room all to your group. Bearno’s is a great pizza tradition in Louisville for the past 15 years.

Day Four
- Breakfast at Hotel
- Practice for Parade: Show time approaches. Time to put your game faces on and prepare for the nationally recognized Pegasus Parade. This parade is a competition to prove who is the best of the parade. Your group will need to focus on the prize in front of them.
- 4th Street for Lunch on your own: Lunch at Fourth Street Live! will have your group in position to head for victory. In the heart of Louisville’s entertainment district, your group will be pumped from the excitement of the Kentucky Derby Festival, feel the pride of the competition and revel in a certain victory. Over 15 different food options.
