Day One
Afternoon
- Ghost Tour in Historic Old Louisville: Brace yourself for a tour of one of the nation’s largest historic preservation districts as you journey through haunted streets and scenic alleyways. Hear tales of an elegant past and eerie stories of spirits that refuse to vacate their Victorian mansions.
- Belle of Louisville: Enjoy a scrumptious meal aboard one of the oldest paddlewheelers still in operating existence. Learn of her childhood years as a ferry between Tennessee and Arkansas. As a teenager during World War II, she often towed barges filled with oil along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. And finally leading in to her later years, she has become one of Louisville’s greatest treasures. The Belle is truly a legendary lady.

Day Two
Morning
- Breakfast at Hotel
- Walking tour down Historic Main Street to the next three attractions (Park bus on Main Street past 9th Street). Start at the Muhammad Ali Center, walking west.
- Muhammad Ali Center: The Center serves as an international educational center that inspires us to find the Greatness Within. Preserving the legacy of Louisville’s most famous native son, Muhammad Ali, visitors will experience state of the art interactive exhibits and a biographical storyline of Ali’s values: respect, confidence, conviction, dedication, spirituality and giving.
- Frazier History Museum: Take an unforgettable journey through history that spans 1,000 years and 2 continents with one of the greatest collections of historical artifacts in the world. The Frazier features a collection of arms and armor of famous politicians, celebrities, frontiersmen, soldiers, knights and kings. Groups enjoy guided tours, sword fighting demonstrations and first-person costumed historical interpretations.
- Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory: Tour the world famous bat factory. Admire the world’s largest baseball bat before going inside to see how Louisville Sluggers are made. Have an all-star experience by swinging a bat just like Babe Ruth’s, facing down a 90 mph fastball, and sharing a dugout with Mickey Mantle. The Louisville Slugger has been essential in the sport of baseball since 1884.
Afternoon
- Lunch at Hard Rock Café at 4th Street Live!
- Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs: Experience Derby Day from the starting gate to the finish line. The Kentucky Derby Museum brings the pageantry and excitement of the Kentucky Derby to life. Feel the excitement of the crowds and hear the thunder of the hoofs with a presentation of The Greatest Race.
- Gheens Science Center & Rauch Memorial Planetarium: You will be seeing stars at this unique learning environment. Located on the campus of the University of Louisville, the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium is designed to provide a unique learning environment primarily for astronomy and space science education, and can inspire the mind to travel throughout our universe and beyond.
- Back to hotel to freshen up
Evening
- Derby Dinner Playhouse: Evening performance and dinner. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show as Derby Dinner Playhouse puts on a professional Broadway style production of comedy, music or mystery with a delicious southern dinner buffet.

Day Three
Morning
- Breakfast at Lynn’s Paradise Café: Take a break with lunch at one of the most fun restaurants in America! Lynn’s is always warm and welcoming with an eclectic menu and décor to match! Their delectable menu offers Southern food with a twist, such as the Bleu Grass Burger and the Paradise Hot Brown.
- Carnegie Center for Art & History: Explore the lives of real people whose selfless acts of courage helped fugitive slaves find hope and freedom through the Underground Railroad. Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: The Men & Women of the Underground Railroad is an interactive feature-length multimedia presentation.
- Falls of the Ohio: The Falls of the Ohio State Park lets you walk across millions of years of history. The rocks visible at the Falls of the Ohio compose one of the largest horizontally exposed fossil coral reefs in the world. This unique geological site was also a factor in the establishment of the city of Louisville. Learn more about the history creatures and peoples who haved lived along the Ohio River inside the Interpretive Center.
- Schimpff’s Confectinery: This old time candy store is a rare find. Nestled in the heart of Historic Old Jeffersonville, IN, see the history of candy in their museum and watch firsthand as they make their famous Red Hots. This is one spot that stimulates all your senses, and lets your students really be a kids in a candy store!
Afternoon
- Lunch on your own 4th Street Live!
- American Printing House for the Blind and Museum: Can you imagine what your favorite book would look like in Braille? At the American Printing House for the Blind, you will be able to see how a book is “printed” for the visually impaired. APH is the oldest printing house in the United States and largest in the world for the visually impaired. While here, visit the Callahan Museum, featuring artifacts of the educational history of visually impaired people. Fun fact: the first set of the Braille Edition of the World Encyclopedia had 145 volumes. Free Admission.
- Historic Locust Grove: Revisit American history in this home built circa 1790, where George Rogers Clark spent his last days, and three U.S. presidents have stayed. This historic house sits on 55 of the remaining 693 original acres. It is an excellent example of Georgian architecture. In addition, the original smokehouse, stone farm buildings, and gardens have been preserved.
Evening
- Dinner at Buca Di Beppo: enjoy flavorful Italian fare served family-style at Buca di Beppo.
- Overnight at student-friendly hotel
Day Four
Morning
- Breakfast at Hotel
- Spend the Day in Bardstown, KY.
- My Old Kentucky Home: This Georgian-style mansion is as endearing to visitors today as it was in 1852, the year Foster wrote what has become the official state song. Step into the days of the antebellum South as costumed guides escort you through the stately mansion and formal gardens.
- Civil War Museum: This museum located in Old Bardstown is one of the largest Civil War museums in the U.S., and includes the nation’s only Women’s Civil War Museum. Visit the different themed rooms, such as the artillery room and the cavalry room, to see the workings of 19th century combat. You can also visit the Pioneer Village to see original log cabins dating from 1776-1820, the new War Memorial of Mid-America, and the Wildlife Museum.
