Parks and Gardens In and Around Louisville
Louisville’s Green Thumb on Display in Parks, Gardens, and Forests
In many ways, Louisville is still a frontier town rooted in the land and rivers of the Kentucky countryside. Even in the heart of the city, visitors will find escape in our neighborhood gardens and urban parks.
For a truly original view of Louisville the river city, visit Waterfront Park on the banks of the Ohio River.
Great hiking, biking, and picnicking are to be had in nearby Jefferson Memorial Forest. Just minutes away from downtown Louisville, Jefferson Memorial is the largest municipal forest in the US and features more than 35 miles of trails, fishing and canoeing, horseback riding, as well as overnight camping sites.
For more ways to experience Louisville’s great outdoors, take a stroll around one of our many Golf Courses or see Louisville’s famous thoroughbreds up-close at Kentucky Horse Races.
