Did you know?
In the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s, "The Midnight Ramble" described the live musical performances which used to take place at midnight on the movie house stages along what was then Walnut Street, since renamed Muhammad Ali Boulevard, the hub of the African-American community. Moms Mabley, Redd Foxx, the Clovers and Clyde McPhatter and the Dominoes are just some of the noted entertainers who shared songs and laughter with Louisville audiences. Today, this tradition has been revived at The Kentucky Center. As a tribute to the Walnut Street of yesteryear, "The Midnight Ramble Series" is a living legacy of African-American cultural history.
