Business BuilderBusiness Builder Workshop Series:

Hospitality and the ADA: Achieving Great Service for Guests with Hearing and/or Vision Loss

Kentucky International Convention Center - Conference Theatre

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Two workshops to choose from:

Session I: 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. OR  Session II: 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

In this 1.5 hours workshop, you will learn:

Is your establishment ready to serve Guests with Hearing and/or Vision Loss?  This summer, Louisville will host three conferences and conventions, including Deaf Festival, the National Association for Deaf and the American Council of the Blind. The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau would like to properly prepare our hospitality partners to deliver the best possible service to these groups.

To assist you in reaching this level of service, the Bureau invites you to a complimentary Business Builder training session – Hospitality and the ADA: Achieving Great Service for Guests with Hearing and/or Vision Loss. This training will be especially valuable for hotel managers, customer service representatives, conference coordinators, front desk managers and staff, and the like.

We are excited to offer knowledgeable speakers on hand to present this pertinent information. Anita Dowd and Rachel Rodgers, with the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, as well as Gary Mudd and Roberta Williams, with the American Printing House for the Blind will be on hand to answer questions and offer industry-specific tips properly handling interactions with the deaf, blind or visually impaired.

You (or your designated staff) will LEARN:

  • How the Americans with Disabilities ACT (the ADA) applies to the hospitality industry
  • Ideas and resources for assessing accessibility (including reservations policies, accessible rooms, and more)
  • What accommodations are required
  • What is “disability etiquette”

Please register by May 8, 2012.
