One Stop Holiday Shopping

Release Date: Nov 19, 2009

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 17, 2009) – Friday, November 27 the Louisville Visitors Center will hold its Holiday Open House “City Sampler” during downtown’s Light Up Louisville. Some of Louisville’s premier attractions like Glassworks, Belle of Louisville, Louisville Science Center, Old Louisville Visitors Center, and the city’s newest attraction Louisville Mega Cavern will be on hand to answer questions.

Residents and visitors alike will be able to register for giveaways like attractions tickets and Louisville merchandise during the City Sampler. They can also complete holiday shopping lists with Louisville themes all in one place including Louisville Originals restaurant gift certificates, parking meter cards, Possibility City and other interesting Louisville wearables. The Visitors Center will be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 27. Free hot beverages will be served.

In addition to informational literature and personalized advice about Louisville, the Center showcases local icons – Colonel Harland Sanders and Kentucky Bourbon – as well as shopping opportunities. The story of Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, is brought to life through memorabilia and exhibits that tell the story of how Sanders turned his “secret recipe” into a global franchise. One of the Colonel’s signature white suits is on display, along with a life-size wax replica of the Colonel for posed photos. Visitors can explore an introductory exhibit about the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and purchase Bourbon Country merchandise, including the popular “Just Add Bourbon” line. The Center, located at the corner of Fourth and Jefferson, also carries Louisville and Gallopalooza merchandise in its 2,950 square-foot, climate-controlled space.
